Working for Japan's Famitsu Magazine, Jade Raymond sat down with Metal Gear Solid 4's intrepid designer, Hideo Kojima. Though Kojima praised Raymond and Assassin's Creed for their originality and commitment to producing inventive, quality games, the conversation seems to have focused on violence in gaming. Kojima, a proponent of the constructive use of violence, had this to say:

I dont think there are many games that tackle violence head on... When you hit someone or inflict pain, faces get disfigured for example, and I want to make games that show that sort of thing.

Kojima Continues:

If you dont see the pain, you cant understand what youve done, and youll pass through battles without taking responsibility for your actions. I dont want to ignore that. I want players to think, even if its just a little, about what violence and war are.
This reminds me of the feeling of fear and regret I often felt while playing Call of Duty 4. Because of the game's realism and stark subject matter I remember thinking, "Man, I feel bad for those soldiers." I can't wait to see how Kojima's views come through in Metal Gear Solid 4.
