The nominees for the upcoming 2008 Spike TV Video Game Awards have been announced and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits has been nominated for seven awards.

Metal Gear Solid 4 has picked up Nominations in the following categories: Game of the Year, Best Graphics, Best Action Adventure Game, Best PS3 Game, Best Original Score, and two in the Best Performance by a Human Male category for Michael Hollick and Jason Zumwalt, the voices of Niko and Roman Bellic, respectively.

As much as I love Metal Gear Solid 4, this list really made me realize how many great games came out this year. With heavy-hitters like Grand Theft Auto IV and LittleBigPlanet also populating the list, Snake has some serious competition.

MGS4 is awesome in every way. If that doesn't win GotY, the system is broken. It was just so damn good. Losing to anything this year is unacceptable. I still play it like I just got it.

Metal Gear Solid 4 should win GOTY easily. Sure GTAIV is a contender but I think San Andreas was a better game IMO. I think the developers spent too much time trying to make New York City realistic and didn't spend enough time on the gameplay. You make millions of dollars during the game and can only buy clothes.
