At the end of Hideo Kojima's GDC keynote, the developer started talking about the future of the Metal Gear franchise and how a Western/Japanese hybrid method is what he envisioned for the series.
As he spoke, an animation played in the background. At point one the animation stopped with the words "the next MGS" and a conceptual picture of Raiden.
I can't think of any other way to interpret that other than Raiden being the focus of the next Metal Gear game. After his revamped appearance in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, I say bring it on.
