In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki, Hideo Kojima further clarified his involvement with the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the Sony PSP and Metal Gear Solid: Rising that's coming to the Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and PC.
Kojima had originally planned ot take a backseat role with Peace Walker, but once he had decided on the game's setting, he decided to get more involved.
"At first, I was just going to create the overall guidelines and concepts for the project, and leave it in the hands my excellent staff. I was going to have a hand in the project as a producer, and make titles other than MGS. But, I set the game in the South American [sic] country of Costa Rica and created a story with themes about nuclear deterrence and The Cold War. It looked as if it might be very confusing to young people, because of generational differences. So, in the end I finally said, 'I'll do it.'"
As for Rising, he'll be a producer, but he claims that he'll be more involved than typical producer duties require.
Here's hoping that both games live up to the usual Kojima benchmark.
