According to the latest rumors, Sony has been ordering mass quantities of PlayStation 3 parts and stopping pre-orders of the 80GB PS3 model. Does this mean the PS3 Slim is finally here?

A 7-Eleven in Japan recently received an order from Sony to stop taking pre-orders for the 80GB PS3 models at the end of this week.

At the same time, Sony has placed "significant orders for key Sony PS3 components" from IC distributors, enough to produce one million units in the third quarter of this year, which is double what they produce in the second quarter.

As Gamepro's Sean Mirkovich points out, PS3 sales haven't been too great, so they wouldn't be making any more current PS3s.

Is the PS3 Slim finally a reality?
