Last year, the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots helped Konami's sales numbers skyrocket. This year, with no Solid Snake to watch their back, things aren't looking nearly as good.
The company just released their quarterly earnings, and the gaming division pulled in 1.5 billion yen, which this time last year it was a whopping 13.2 billion yen, which is almost 139 million USD. That's a pretty big fall.
Kotaku points out that Pro Evolution Soccer comes out in October and may be a bright spot, but there are those within the company that are worried the bad numbers will continue.
